See the Faces
Her eyes, a cool shade of hazel, stared blankly at the wall. She looks lost.. no peace and joy, just sadness and a deep need. A want for something real and better.
They say that the eyes are the window to the soul, and in that moment I believe that was true. In that one glance, I could feel her pain and unrest. It took all that was in me to continue on with the procedure and not to stop and say, “before we continue let me tell you about my Jesus.” But all I could do was pray for her.
Sometimes all you can do is smile, pray and have a kind spirit. Often actions speak louder than words. Sometimes what we do, makes more of an impact then what we say.
He returned my greeting with a bitter, yet painful expression. I knew something was wrong. He later opened up about a beloved pet that was dying from cancer. I could understand how he felt, for I too have lost a precious pet myself. The walls now broken down by shared experiences; we had a conversation about God and the Bible. With tears in both our eyes we talked about heaven, the definition of a real Christian, and what I believe as a Seventh day Adventist.
“You're so different from the rest of the youth today, even in the church.” He says, “You talk of your faith so freely and openly, it's like apart of you.”
“To be quite honest, sometimes I surprise myself.” I replied. “It's truly God that is giving me the words and boldness to speak. How can I keep quiet about something so precious and true? I can't help but tell others about Jesus because without Him I wouldn't be here. It's our duty as Christians to share with others the truths of the Bible.”
I will never forget their faces, and I won't stop praying.
As we walk through our daily lives God puts within our paths people He wants us to touch. And the question is are you ready? Are you willing? And are you praying? God can use you wherever you are to be a witness for Him. No matter how small the task, you're making a difference in their life for Christ.
“See the faces, the wasted lives, and tell me how you live your own.
See the sadness, feel the tears imagine being all alone.
We have a comforter, we have a guide. We have a strong arm to lean on, go ahead and tell them Christ has called you along.”- Lyrics by Abigail Cosgrove Duman.
